Work: Victor CenterGenetic disorders are often more prevalent in certain populations than in others. In the Ashkenazi Jewish population, an estimated one in four persons is a carrier for at least one condition in a group collectively referred to as Jewish genetic diseases. These conditions include Bloom's Syndrome, Canavan Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Familial Dysautonomia, Fanconi Anemia Type C, Gaucher Disease Type 1, Mucolipidosis IV, Niemann-Pick Disease Type A, and Tay-Sachs Disease. The Victor Centers in partnership with CHC have developed a social marketing campaign targeting college-aged Ashkenazi Jews to improve their knowledge and attitude towards JGDs, and ensure that they have early and direct access to evidence-based, actionable, and culturally sensitive information regarding genetic testing and counseling services. Both offline and online channels have been used as well as number of materials have been developed for this audience.
